Verge returns 20 years after they began!

Most people recall the mysterious disappearance and sordid details that came to light in the bizarre demise of Verge back in 1995. Of the few remnants that remain from their rollicking journey, the most revealing is their CD release on 1-800-Weirdos Records, "Little Idiot", and their web site at http://www.weirdos.com/verge.

Verge's lead singer, the eccentric and anachronistic Jeremy X. Halpern, suddenly re-appeared completely naked in the middle of Times Square this week. He has repeatedly refused to explain his whereabouts for the past 13 years as well as the fate of the other band members. He did announce that in honor of the birth of Verge in 1988, there will be a concert on Saturday June 7th, 2008 at 9:10 pm at The Monkey at 37 West 26th Street on the 12th floor. Tickets cannot be purchased, but they can be requested by sending email to verge@weirdos.com. A charitable donation to Medecin Sans Frontieres will be collected at the door.

Robert Hamilton, then an intern and the only survivor of the Verge catastrophe, has often said in interviews that the return of Verge would happen at some point. Most pundits believed that he was suffering from mental delusions. It would seem they were wrong, as Verge is apparently taking the stage again at this unique and exclusive event. It is not clear what criterion the band will use to determine who will be allowed to attend the event and who will be rebuffed.

Verge began their experiments in 1988 in conjunction with the Society of Pataphysics, a group of scientific philosophers. Realizing their need to laugh at everything surrounding them, they quickly organized into a rock band, playing at New York City clubs like CBGB's and the New Music Cafe. Later, with full length pieces like "The Exorcism" and "Journey to Oz", Verge took its message to the streets, in Tompkins Square Park and the New York City Marathon. They've even sent their "madness" through the airwaves with cable TV shows like "On the Verge" and "Reality".

Verge's "Little Idiot" and other products can be purchased from 1-800-Weirdos directly by calling 1-800-934-7367 or visiting www.weirdos.biz. You can email verge@weirdos.com to request an invitation to the Twentieth Anniversary Reunion concert. For press reservations or interview inquiries with Verge & Jeremy X. Halpern, please call Michael Martinez at 212-712-7362.
